Mexico Calls U.S. Border Fence Severe Threat to Environment

The #Mexican report, which includes chapters by U.S. environmentalists and Mexican researchers, says the United States is ignoring environmental laws in the border region while forcing the Mexican government to comply. It raises the question of whether “the United States is a country of laws or not.”

The report endorses the use of observation towers and sensors, rather than fences, or building “living fences” that allow animals, water and pollens critical to endangered plants to cross the border. It also suggests reducing the use of night lighting that scares animals.

The report, which grew out of a binational environmental conference, cites as a possible model the border projects near Sasabe, Ariz., which employ unmanned towers, radars and infrared cameras.

“A lot of people object,” the report says, “but it’s not a fence bisecting the habitat.”

More than 4,000 plant species spread across the border area, according to the report, and the fence would place at additional risk 85 endangered species of plants and animals. Fences in Botswana, the report says, are responsible for high death rates among wild animals.

But the report says Mexico shares blame for the border problem because its moribund economy and huge wealth gap drive poor Mexicans to migrate.

“The tragedy of the wall is not only the result of chauvinism and the fear of foreigners in the U.S.,” Exequiel Ezcurra of the San Diego Natural History Museum wrote in one of the chapters. “As long as there is so much poverty in Mexico’s Deep South, the dream of cultural integration in North America will continue to be crushed by the reality of misery and inequity.”

“Point V Point”

Fran,

I remember you mentioned bats, when I told you about the EPA and the DNR

and the famous Environmental impact studies… I suggested it would

take 30 years to build your wind powered car parks to stop Global Warming.

Here is an example presently in the news.

“Our” socialists at work.

The Border fence has been stopped due to a lizard that it may effect.

Google it and see that “migration of a lizard” has halted the project,

this is socialism running wild, under the guise of environmentalism.

Now picture the socialist trying to get Global warming regulations in

our system, it will “as planned” bring our economy to a stand still.

The Communist/Socialist can’t out perform #Capitalism , so they attempt to

cripple capitalism and make us as bloated and ineffective as can be

done. Their point of entry for breaking into the system has been

environmentalism. Once in they steal all the freedoms they can get.

What’s “socialist” about somebody trying to stop the construction of

the Border fence?

And what’s “capitalist” about having a #Border fence?

Good questions…. When it comes to the fence, the socialist do want the

“poor” Mexicans to come in and get free government services. The more

they get here the more that will get amnesty and vote for those giving

out free services to them. In short the Socialist are Taxing me to pay

for free services for Illegals and intend to get the illegals drivers

license, which is connected to MOTOR VOTER registration, the Mexicans

will then vote for more socialists and free services at my expense.

The Liberals/Socialist/environmntal/Global Warmers may be suing on

behalf of the lizards this time so that the fence will be stalled in the

same way they have wanted to stall our economy via excessive regulation. The

regulations were  socialist in nature, but once installed might be used

by any and all to get their preferred outcome on a given project. On

this subject, it doesn’t have to be the socialist, but probably is. As

for who created the Socialist regulations in the first place, it was the

socialist, and that’s where the damage is started.

I’m an unusual socialist, maybe, in not being in favor of more

immigration: I think it just leads to divisions within the American

working class that the capitalist business elite can exploit for

political advantage - while taking advantage, of course, of cheap

illegal immigrant labor.

Immigration is fine, but make it legal so they can help me pay taxes,

and not simply by making them all legal at the drop of a hat. Some of

them are violent Criminals - you know.   The reason socialist are

stopping the fence is so that there will be so many illegals that we

can’t send them home without an uprising and making it cheaper to just

throw up our hands and admit defeat. The ilegals aren’t very well versed

on American culture and political system, these unsophisticated new

voters will be easily manipulated by Liberal promises of FREE health

care free this and that. This amounts to voter fraud if they are just

selling their vote for promises of free government services. 12,000,000

votes.

But the last time I checked, the editorial page of the super-

capitalist Wall Street Journal was 100% in favor of open borders and

free immigration.  The WSJ editorial page is about as pro-capitalist

as you can get, but they’re against the construction of the Border

Fence.

Several things going on at the same time, when it comes to protecting

our borders, some groups aren’t exactly upfront about their reasons for

their positions. I’m for free Immigration if they repeal the income tax

and replace it with a Federal sales tax. They also need to track the

Criminals. That requires some knowledge of who they are and organized

entry points. So basically I think the Wall Street Journal is not for

illegals crossing without any border crossing, but I didn’t read that

one so you tell me. Free immigration does not equal un-patrolled borders

for drug and gun toting criminals to cross back and forth at their leisure.

So when someone tries to block construction of the fence by using the

threat to the lizard as an excuse, why is this necessarily “socialist”

rather than “capitalist” behavior?

Because the laws being used this time are socialist in nature. There

could be others that won’t protest it since it parallels some of their

goals. The Capitalist, like free trade not illegal under the table

trade, they also are tough on crime, both hurts their business. Trade

that is uncontrolled will actually hurt the economy, but cheap labor is

seductive.  They can’t however come out and say we’re stopping the fence

so we capitalist can get cheap illegal labor. Mostly “I” was objecting

to socialist installing these laws, because once in place, yes anyone

can use them to tie up any project and cause problems through out the

system. It all ties up our economy and the end result is that socialism

will then become more comparable to the “new quasi capitalism” that is

still under political/legal attack from those socialist. It makes the

two seem close in their output, but the capitalism has had the brakes

put on it, by creeping socialism/legal battles. The damage is done by

creating the regulations and tax, once in place they may be used by

socialist if they want to, but others will also use them to get a leg up

on someone else.

To be fair, the Socialist/Environmentalist probably won’t sue on behalf

of any birds or polar bears, when installing your car parks, but the

environmental impact studies will be required unless the government

grants a pass on it.

And while we’re on the subject of illegal immigration — who is it

that’s employing most of the illegal immigrants?  Socialists, or

capitalist business owners?

I can’t be sure who employs the illegals, if you count the free

education for kids and free medical and housing - as employment, the

numbers are kind of unclear. My experience has been, most are employed

by sub contractors who will pay them in cash. The Sub contractors are??

Liberals and conservatives competing for dollars and trying not to be

taxed and regulated out of business.
